The Summerrolls concept is based on a vision of making
Vietnam's best-kept food and health secrets more accessible
to the Australian public.
Founders Minh and Nui, a young Vietnamese-Thai couple
from Sydney, developed the idea in 2003 following their
first trip together to Vietnam and other parts of South
East Asia.
"Having experienced during our travels the delights,
simplicity and richness of Vietnamese street food -
food served by hawkers and street vendors - we agreed
that something this good can't be kept a secret,"
Minh says.

As Australia's newest Vietnamese gastronomic evangelists,
Minh and Nui soon turned their backs on their promising
careers and vowed to dedicate themselves to a life of
devout cooking and prayerful food pilgrimages.
Minh was a published political researcher while Nui
was working with a government agency. But determination
overcame their woeful lack of food experience and after
several trips to Asia, Minh and Nui developed a specialised
menu and perfected their signature range of five
summer roll sauces
and four fat-free Asian salad dressings.
"When we first started, we didn't know how to
turn on a commercial stove," Minh recalls. "Now
we're getting calls from experienced chefs asking us
for tips on making sauces!"

Summerrolls opened its first store in 2007 at Foodbase
on Park in Sydney CBD focusing on summer
rolls, Asian salads,
noodle soups,
Vietnamese baguettes
and corporate catering.
The business continues to experience growth as an increasingly
discerning and health-conscious public warms to the
idea of quality, tasty and convenient Vietnamese street
food to go.

Summerrolls has received several industry recognitions, including the title of Sydney's Best Vietnamese awarded by the City News three years running.
